About

I grew up in Boise, Idaho. I grew up with art all around me. My father was an architect and painter, my mother had a great sense of design and very crafty. I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Idaho, with a variety of skills in the arts, including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry making and printmaking. It was during that college experience I found my passion for expressive color. After college, I moved to Seattle, Wa and began a family. I have spent 22 years teaching students k-12 grades. While living and teaching art in Seattle Wa, I earned her Masters of Art Education from the University of Florida.

Although most of my art accomplishments are related to teaching art; earning Teacher of the year, Washington DC’s Lab School Art teacher award, and Artsonia’s Leadership award, I also participated in several Art walks and exhibitions throughout the greater Seattle and Phoenix areas. 5 years ago I moved to Arizona where I continue to teach art to high school students in the Phoenix area. In my free time my creativity rules. My motto is “Everyday I feel creative, therefore I create”.

Since moving to Arizona, I have re- established my love of clay..... maybe living down in the desert has tapped me into the southwestern art. However this change happened, I am truly enjoying creating and designing my bowls .... and things. My earlier interest in Aboriginal art inspires my color and line designs in my ceramics. They have evolved from circular designs to more organic line designs. In the last couple of years I have expanded my focus from making serving bowls to trying different bowl sizes, pendants, small snack bowls, larger platters, mugs, illuminary orbs and any other item that interests me.

Art is my passion! I love art! …..and throughout my life I have moved through many mediums of art. In my earlier years as an artist my passion was painting in oils “capturing a moment in time” with my subject matters. I have always been an oil painter painting both landscapes and people. I have a love of impressionism which I hope is apparent in my paintings. Presently my creativity is divided between ceramics and painting. If I am painting, my clay is pulling me back and visa versa. I think this is one of my biggest struggles as an artist - what do I want to do?!!

Color has always intrigued me. I celebrate color. I love bright color combinations, but recently line has become just as important in my clay designs. The process of drawing the line is very methodical and relaxing to me. Mixed with the density of the colors, it creates a sense of balance and harmony in my pieces. I want my viewers to delight in an expressive and spontaneous encounter of color and line.

I do not have my clay work listed on this website. If you are interested in viewing my pieces, please visit my Etsy shop Boosart1 where I sell them. Go to
